<p>Phat Training Inc&#8217;s first Maui Thai Kick Boxing class is underway!  With three classes selling out fast, we plan to offer four more throughout the week in February. Karim Anglin and Daina Soon head up the instructor team, and take 3 groups the rigors of pre Maui Thai fight training with a group fitness twist.</p>
<p>All are sure to get a great workout, while simultaneously learning the art of what is considered to be one of the world most violent sports (don&#8217;t be scared, it is fun for all ages&#8230; I just like throwing in the violent part).</p>

<p>1. Don&#8217;t exercise with your &#8220;BFF.&#8221;</p>
<p>Many experts recommend working out with friends to increase motivation, but it can backfire. &#8220;People end up talking more than exercising or slowing their speeds or [lowering] intensity levels to chat,&#8221; says Stacey Rosenfeld, Ph.D., a psychologist at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Plus, walking or running with friends can prevent you from following your body&#8217;s cues. If you want to speed up or slow down, for instance, you may not be able to coordinate that with someone else. Arrive at the gym with friends to increase motivation, but save the bonding for later. </p>
<p>2. Choose your workout clothes carefully.</p>
<p>According to psychologists, red can increase blood circulation and body temperature, which can boost workout efficiency. Light waves enter the eye and are converted to electrical impulses in the brain, explains environmental psychologist David Alan Kopec, Ph.D., an associate professor at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design in San Diego. &#8220;Red is a long light wave that affects the hypothalamus, which regulates body temperature, appetite and energy levels.&#8221; He adds that reds and oranges increase body temperature, which pumps you up for exercise and keeps you energized for a longer workout.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What&#8217;s on my mind today is dreams.  Some people have little dreams, some people have massive dreams, and some people don&#8217;t even know what to dream for.  I believe in the law of attraction, and I believe that positive thoughts and positive thinking can make those big dreams a reality.  Of course, you have to have the &#8220;WHY.&#8221;  If you have a &#8220;why&#8221; to your dreams, the &#8220;how&#8221; is merely a formality.  WHY do you do what you do?  There are many reasons people do certain things, whether it&#8217;s in their career, health, relationship, family, etc.  But when you know the &#8220;why&#8221; of something, the &#8220;how&#8221; can come to fruition. </p>
<p>Take your health, for example.  EVERYONE knows the &#8220;how&#8221; for healthy living.  Everyone knows you should exercise and eat healthy.  But it&#8217;s the &#8220;why&#8221; that people often forget about.  WHY should healthy living be important?  I encourage you to think about your &#8220;why&#8221; and make it visual.  Maybe you want to finish a race, maybe you want to spend more active time with your kids, maybe you want to simply look or feel good.  But until you identify your &#8220;why&#8221;, I believe the &#8220;how&#8221; becomes much more difficult.  Why people make the choices they make, for good or bad, is a fascinating thing.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s been on my mind lately is why I do the things I do.  Why did I leave the profession of teaching?  Why am I such a passionate person?  Why do I care about people unconditionally?  Why do I take care of other people&#8217;s needs and then my own?  I know some of the major answers are that I have a strong desire to be happy, which I wasn&#8217;t teaching.  I know I have passion because it&#8217;s the only way to live life.  I know I care about people unconditionally because everyone deserves to be in a nonjudgmental setting.  I think one of the greatest feelings in life is to know, deep down, that someone loves you 100% unconditionally, and I wish that for each and every person. </p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t know the &#8220;why&#8221; of the things you do, I encourage you to take some time to reflect on it.  Maybe it will give your life some clarity.  Maybe that isn&#8217;t your thing in the first place.  However, I know, for me, when I focus on the &#8220;why&#8221; of something, the &#8220;how&#8221; becomes much less important. <p>Oftentimes individuals are too intimidated to join gyms and healthclubs to start off their fitness goals and pursue their dreams of shedding off the pounds. Afraid they won’t keep up with the pace or still feeling a bit shy about their appearances, most people are too overwhelmed by the whole fitness revolution.</p>
<p>But keeping fit is still possible, even in the comfort of your own homes! (see <a href="http://www.getphatnow.com/phat-online/">PHAT ONLINE</a>)  Keeping fit and staying healthy can also be done even in the absence of expensive equipment and hyped up instructors, BTW we are not hyped up&#8230; we are the REAL DEAL!!! ah yeah baby! Check out these tips to get you hyped up even at home:</p>
<p>1.Turn on the television for some good fitness programs. There are plenty of shows usually aired in the morning which you can follow. This way, you wouldn’t get all too conscious when you can’t keep up with the pace, and can even exercise in your pajamas.</p>
<p>2.Search the internet for some good exercise routines you can do at home.This site is perfect, www.getphatnow.com All you need is some bouncy music and workout plans which interest you, and the rest is history. </p>
<p>3.Doing some chores is a good alternative to exercising at the gym. Doing the laundry, cleaning up the clutter, taking out the trash and mowing the lawn will help keep your energy up and also burn the calories.</p>
<p>4.No equipment? Get alternative options for that equipment found in the gym. Use bottles and canned goods as instant dumbbells or simulate jump ropes to get the calories burning. There are plenty of possibilities if you only be resourceful enough.</p>
<p>5.Go out and tone those legs by walking, jogging or running around the neighborhood. Aside from enjoying that great scenery outdoors, it’s great to get a breath of fresh air every once in a while. If the weather isn’t working for you, other options such as walking around the house or going up and down a flight of stairs can be a good alternative. This may not be as interesting, but it will do the trick.</p>
<p>Remember, all one needs is a little creativity and a little inspiration. Keeping healthy need not be expensive and be done with the rest of the world.</p>
